News: Just 114,000 Japanese Have Bought Kinect
Dismal
Xbox 360 isn't very popular in Japan, and the average Japanese home is very small. Surprise surprise, then, that Kinect has only mustered a pitiful 114,000 sales in the Land of the Rising Sun. Even combined, the three best-selling Kinect titles — excluding Kinect Adventures — only amount to a meagre 60,300 sales, barely even one sale for every two Kinect sensors. The top three titles.. News: Ubisoft: Microsoft Needs to Support Kinect Year-Round
Not just a holiday fad
Anyone who's glanced at the Kinect sales figures knows the sensor was quick out of the box, selling 8 million units in its first few months on sale, but the last update put the sensor at 10 million sold in its first year. With 80% of its lifetime sales in the first Christmas, it's clear Kinect hasn't yet achieved a solid year-round sales performance, something that worries.. Continue Reading »

News: Microsoft Drawing More Families to Xbox 360 Thanks to Kinect
Console's audience is expanding
The Xbox has always been aimed at the heavy user: it was the first console to feature a hard drive and the first to make a decent fist of online play (sorry, Dreamcast.) Its most successful first-party franchises are geared towards the hardcore gamer, and after years of failed attempts to draw in the family gamer (sorry, Viva Piñata) the console is finally growing.. Initial speculation suggested that Microsoft had reduced the price of Kinect to retailers, allowing them to pass on the discount to.. Continue Reading »
News: Kinect Outsells PlayStation Move 5 to 1 in February
If you crunch the numbers right
The last time Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter weighed in on the Kinect, he speculated that Microsoft was driving up demand for their device by not including Kinect bundles as part of their "shortages." This time around, he is again focusing on bundles to give Microsoft the proverbial pat on the back, crediting the Kinect with outselling its.. Continue Reading »
