British teams quick out of the blocks

Teams all over the world are hard at work on Kinect titles, but British teams are doing all right for themselves out of the sensor's success, with UK teams responsible for 42% of all Kinect games sold in Britain since launch.

Top of the pile was Rare's Kinect Sports, which accounted for a whopping 28% of all Kinect games sold in the UK since launch. Other titles developed in the United Kingdom include Blitz Games Studios' The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout and Kinectimals from Frontier Developments.

The statistics came in trade body UKIE's Motion Controller Report, which analyses sales of Kinect, Move and MotionPlus games since October 2010.

UKIE's director general Michael Rawlinson is pleased with his report's findings:

The array of strong products that our home-grown, UK talent is producing is something we can all be proud of. This just shows how our UK developer base remains one of the best in the world, and can continue to step up to the plate as the market develops and platforms evolve.

Future Kinect games developed within Great Britain include Yoostar2, Fantastic Pets and Michael Phelps: Push the Limit, all in development at Blitz Games Studios, and secret projects from Rare, Frontier Developments and Lionhead.
