Lofty claims indeed
Kinect's pre-Christmas success has grabbed the attention of gamers and developers worldwide, resulting in a surge of interesting new titles, according to Microsoft's interactive entertainment business senior producer Kevin Unangst.
Speaking to ComputerandVideoGames.com, Unangst remarked on the positive feedback from developers following the sensor's sales performance to date.
It's great to see developers coming back and saying 'wow, this is a serious platform' - the numbers speak for themselves. We're selling consoles faster than we ever have. We're selling Kinect in massive numbers.
I'm thrilled with the people we have working on it, I think the creative minds that we now have asking 'how do we bring Kinect in a relevant way to a core gamer?' is awesome.
Of the core Kinect games announced for release this year, we have Turn 10's Forza Motorsport 4, Twisted Pixel's shooter The Gunstringer and mega mecha title Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor from Capcom, but Unangst sums things up succinctly:
I think it's going to be nothing but exciting from now on.
Do you agree with him? Do you think the paucity of Kinect titles is over, and we're heading into a golden time of games, or do you feel there's a fair way to go before Kinect is "nothing but exciting"? Start the discussion in our comments section below.

You mean it wasn't good enough already? Interesting as he'd be right, heh heh. C'mon, up your game, this is interesting gaming tech...

It would've been nice if he backed up that claim with some "exciting games". I'm skeptical but hopeful. There is a lot of potential with Kinect but so far the game lineup is not stellar.

I'm surprised we didn't see more games unveiled or talked about at GDC this week, other than Child of Eden. Looks like we'll have to wait until June to find out more of the really exciting games.
