Not just socially speaking either
Kinect makes loads of cool things appear on-screen, but what about making them _dis_appear? Turns out it can do that too, with another enterprising coder coming up with this "optical camouflage" hack for PC making you invisible.
As well as containing some of the nicest jazz we've heard in a game video for ages, the video shows off a neat shimmer effect that makes someone disappear before your very eyes. Although the coder doesn't mention how it was made possible, we imagine it's a composite of an empty background shot and some clever coding wizardry, but don't quote us on it.
It gets good from about a minute in. What interesting applications can you think of for this nifty little piece of code?

I like how it takes nearly 7 minutes for this guy to feel that the hack has been showcased enough!

Me too, especially considering what he's showing off is... well, it's nothing, really!

I wish he'd picked something up, like a cup or a dog. Hover dog. Explain that one Ripley's! But almost 7mins without anything more than bad dancing and arm waving, wasted opportunity

It's great the hackers are showing Microsoft the potential of what Kinect can do. Hopefully this will help "push" the technology in the device above and beyond motion-mini-games. M$ take note...this is the stuff that sets it apart from PS Move!
And yes, the video is boring but the creator is a computer nerd, not a Hollywood actor so cut him some slack - probaby doesn't have much of social life if he took the time to make himself invisible.
