Vancouver Studio Downsizes

An unannounced Kinect project with the working name of "Project Columbia" has been canned due to downsizing at Microsoft's Vancouver studio.

The studio was also responsible for the free-to-play Microsoft Flight for PC, on which development has also been discontinued.

Project Columbia was rumoured to be a storybook application for Xbox 360, that used Kinect to allow younger players to interact with the story's characters directly. Microsoft confirms that the studio will remain open, but will be operating with a reduced headcount, and that they are trying to relocate affected employees to other roles within the company.
