Reach for the stars
It's the classic underdog story.
Xbox 360 fan Jon "Jam Boy" Mullins took on reigning PDC world champion Adrian Lewis at a high pressure match of Kinect Sports: Season Two darts. Keeping his cool to narrowly defeat the champion, Mullins' victory cry erupted over the tension:
I’m over the moon. I’m having doughnuts tonight!
We see a bright future for Mullins on the professional darts circuit.
PDC World Champion Adrian Lewis Shows His Finesse on Kinect Sports: Season Two Darts
The ‘Jackpot’ challenges darts fans for ultimate glory at the finals of the Kinect Sports: Season Two Darts League Championship for Xbox 360
London – 26th January 2012 – After an intense preliminary tournament held on Xbox LIVE in early January, three finalists from across the UK were chosen to face-off against one another to win the chance to claim ultimate glory in the Kinect Sports: Season Two Darts League Championship. The prize? Bragging rights, the grand champion’s cup, and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play a round of 501 darts with reigning and two-time PDC World Darts Champion, Adrian ‘Jackpot’ Lewis, along with the voice of darts, Russ Bray, in London.
Michael ‘Hellraiser’ Hamilton, Jon ‘Jam Boy’ Mullins and Chris ‘Perfection’ Pownall all competed on Kinect Sports: Season Two darts in their own homes over Xbox LIVE and were selected to participate in the championship finals on 25th January at Porters Lodge, the premier darts venue in London. After competing onsite in a live competition, the finalists were whittled down to one winner, Jon Mullins, who took on the Jackpot. Coming extremely close to throwing a nine dart finish to close out the match, the Jam Boy eliminated Adrian Lewis in the grand finale to walk away with the champion’s trophy.
“Competing against darts fans of all skill levels is always a thrill, no matter if you’re stepping up to a real oche or a virtual one”, said Adrian Lewis. “Luckily there isn’t the pressure of a PDC final, but you still need a steady hand, composure and a bit of finesse if you want a nine dart finish on Kinect Sports 2”.
“It’s fantastic, I actually beat Adrian Lewis!”, said ultimate winner Jon Mullins. “I’m over the moon. I’m having doughnuts tonight!”
