40% less space required
If your living room isn't quite big enough for Kinect to work properly, you might be interested in Nyko's handy new accessory, the Zoom for Kinect. The peripheral manufacturer has announced the new bit of kit will release across North America on 23rd August at $29.99.
Clipping over Kinect's eyes, the accessory means you'll need 40% less space to get the most out of your sensor. Essentially they're like tiny binoculars, although we're sure they're a bit more high-tech than that.
We'll be putting the Nyko Zoom for Kinect through its paces when it releases in August. If your house is too small to support Kinect, you won't want to miss it.
Nyko Zoom for Kinect Gets North American Price and Release Date
Kinect Will Need 40 Percent Less Space on August 23, 2011
LOS ANGELES - July 6, 2011
Leading gaming peripherals manufacturer Nyko Technologies® today announced the Zoom for Kinect will be available nationwide in stores and online August 23, 2011 for an MSRP of $29.99. With a series of proprietary lenses and a simple clip-on design, the Zoom lets players enjoy Microsoft Kinect games in 40% less space, and requires no additional power or batteries. Perfect for apartments, dorms and small living rooms, Zoom lets two people play Kinect in a space that would otherwise only accommodate one person and is compatible with any Kinect game. A breakout hit at E3 2011, the Zoom was nominated for Best Hardware in Show by IGN, GameSpot, Machinima and G4 X-Play.
“The success of the Zoom at E3 was outstanding and we are incredibly excited to help expand the already thriving fanbase of Kinect gamers, allowing even more people to enjoy the thrills of being the controller,” said Chris Arbogast, director of marketing at Nyko Technologies. “We are also proud to be working with all of our retail partners on our first ever simultaneous national launch for an accessory. Come August 23rd you will be able to find the Zoom on store shelves everywhere.”
Nyko is proud of the design and technology accomplishments achieved with the Zoom and has taken out multiple patents to protect and ensure the first and only play space reduction lens for Kinect remains a mainstay of the Nyko line. The Zoom will be available at the following retailers on August 23 for an MSRP of $29.99.

Hmmm I might look into that since I have a limited space where my Xbox is now.

I hope this works; we have the bare minimum for most Kinect games--It sounds like it could be a great way to give us some space.

Hopefully those green lenses are going to let the Kinect track you as well as usual, but we're working on getting one and will definitely bring you a report when it arrives

The planet is so heavily overpopulated that dudes are not even getting 4 square meters to play. If someone does not havethe space to play he should save for a new house instead of trashing it in an xbox. and being active against human overpopulation also helps a lot.

Not everybody gets to live in Spain, where a big house can be bought for 3 cows and some chickenlegs...

So buy less, procreate less, save more? I like the sound of this world
